It’s a big week for Misch Mit! and we are very excited to be taking part in two major events in the area!
The first event takes place on September 9th. In what’s being described as a ‘day of action’ Misch Mit is working with a local gardening network called ImGarten. ImGarten is a
collective of people who want to use gardening and other projects to bring refugees and locals together, in a fun relaxed way. They currently have two gardens that they look after. On the 9th, we will be working together to clean up a small garden space behind a refugee hostel in Moabit so that locals and refugees have a nice, outdoor space they can enjoy.
Two of the people involved in the ImGarten project, Julia and Dani, said: “We want to create ideas for the space with the people from the hostel. We think it’s important to meet and to exchange ideas and stories, because that’s the only way to gain mutual understanding. And it’s important to have fun, so someone’s mind is open for exchange.”
On the 10th, Misch Mit is inviting refugees and locals to the annual Moabiter Kiezfest around the neighbourhood town hall at Rathaus Tiergarten. We are expecting a day full of fun, music, dancing, meeting and eating! There is a jam-packed schedule, with performances from locals and refugees, plus around 70 stalls that will offer fresh food from the area!
It’s also one of the first times Misch Mit! and many of our partners will get together so there is a chance to meet, discuss and share ideas on how we can work together. Our partners work on many areas, including helping refugees with paperwork, local family centres and refugee mentoring projects.
